Disporum longistylum ‘Green Giant’

(Giant Chinese Fairy Bells)  Elegant and statuesque, this perennial is reminiscent of bamboo with its graceful upright shoots that emerge in hues of pink, white and light green, rising to 6-8’, aging to dark green in clumps 2-3’ wide with bronzy foliage.  Lightly fragrant spring bells unfurl and dangle gracefully, transforming to shiny black fruits by fall.  Part shade, consistent moisture and decent soils;  evergreen in warmer zones but cutting back in late winter ensures lovely new stems!  Dan Hinkley collection.
