Wowser clumping perennial from alpine woodlands of Japan; large, BOLD rounded leaves to 12” across are palmate and deeply cut (remind me of Podophyllum hexandrum) on strong stems 12-18” tall; leaves emerge in spring with rose hues, evolving to rich green, forming beautiful, rich, imposing clumps that slowly expand by creeping rhizomes. June July flower spikes to 30” bearing small cream flowers. Happiest in humusy, moist soil in part shade…tolerates almost full shade and will take some drought once established.
