(Matilija Poppy) We also call this the ‘fried egg poppy’…6-8 foot tall stems with silver green foliage are topped all summer and fall with huge poppy flowers (up to 9”), with the most delicate, crinkled, tissue paper petals of the purest white encircling a large golden yolk center! A spreading, rhizomatous shrubby perennial that thrives in full sun with little to no summer water (give it room); wide beds, slopes, areas enclosed by cement. Ours are gorgeous on a dry bank where the lack of summer water keeps them well behaved. Deer resistant.
